How are the cabins different?
The original High Peak A-frame — The Cozy A-Frame Cabin at 7 High Drive — is one bedroom, one bath, and sleeps 4 with a king bed and a sleeper sofa. Created especially for couples, romantic getaways and small families, it is a classic mountain escape with downtown West Jefferson just below you. The other three A-frames each have two floors, three bedrooms, two full baths, and sleep 6: the Farm A-Frame Cabin at 11 High Drive (cow-inspired patterns and Fraser firs; handicapped friendly), the West Jefferson A-Frame Cabin at 19 High Drive (chartered in 1915, a tribute to the Virginia Creeper), and the Nature A-Frame Cabin at 25 High Drive (regional photography of Mount Jefferson, the New River, Elk Knob, Grayson Highlands, Grandfather Mountain and the Virginia Creeper Trail). Equipment at 11, 19, and 25 High Drive: private XL hot tub, outdoor grill, EV charger, walk-in tile spa shower, full kitchen, electric fireplace, Free Wi-Fi, and washer and dryer.
Is there a shared outdoor space?
Yes. Lighted walking trails connect all four A-frames and lead to a shared covered gathering area and fireplace, with views of downtown West Jefferson and Paddy Mountain. This is separate from each cabin's individual amenities. Paths through the woods — string-lit at night — also have benches and swing benches along the way, plus a seating area beside the property's small waterfall where you can hear the water fall.

Can we request more than one cabin?
Ask Richard about a multi-cabin stay. The four individual occupancy limits add up to 22 guests, but availability and group policies must be confirmed for your dates. Each of 11, 19, and 25 High Drive includes private XL hot tub, outdoor grill, EV charger, walk-in tile spa shower, full kitchen, electric fireplace, Free Wi-Fi, and washer and dryer. The property shares the stone firepit and string-lit paths.
When is the best time to visit West Jefferson?
Every season pulls its weight in the High Country. October brings peak fall foliage on Mount Jefferson and the Blue Ridge Parkway; summer has Christmas in July, Backstreet Park concerts, and New River paddling; winter means ski trips to Appalachian Ski Mountain and Ashe County Fraser fir Christmas tree farms; spring is wildflowers and gallery walks.
Are the High Peak cabins dog-friendly?
Yes. All four cabins welcome one well-behaved dog with a $75 pet fee per stay. Service animals are exempt. At 7 High Drive, dog bowls, a toy, and a treat are waiting on arrival, and there is a pet waste station outside.
How far is High Peak from downtown West Jefferson?
Two blocks. It is a five-minute walk to Jefferson Avenue — Red Dog Tavern, New River Brewing, Craft Bistro, and Ashe County Cheese. Fair warning from guests: the last block back up the hill is steep. Most say the hot tub at the top makes it worth it.
How do I get directions to High Drive?
Use Google Maps directions to the cabins. Google Maps lists this road as High St, not High Drive. It is the same street as 7, 11, 19, and 25 High Drive.
What’s the hot tub at 7 High Drive like?
An oversized private hot tub sits on the deck with Blue Ridge views. Shower before use; no glass; replace the cover; no solo or intoxicated use; supervise children. A $50 maintenance fee applies only if extra cleaning is needed from improper use — it is not a booking fee. 11, 19, and 25 High Drive have the same private XL hot tub equipment.
What kind of shower does 7 High Drive have?
A walk-in tile spa shower with a spa-grade thermostatic system: rainfall head, handheld wand, six spray modes, and an LED temperature display. Joe wrote in June 2026: “the coolest shower we’ve seen.” The same spa shower is in 11, 19, and 25 High Drive.
Is there parking at 7 High Drive?
Yes — free private driveway parking at every cabin. Ask Richard for parking details and limits for a multi-cabin stay.
Is there an EV charger on-site?
Yes. All four cabins have a free EV charger on-site.
How do I check in?
All four cabins use self check-in with a smart lock. The door code is sent the day of arrival. Check-in is 4:00 PM; checkout is 11:00 AM.
What is the cancellation policy?
The same policy applies to all four cabins: 100% refund if you cancel 14 or more days before arrival. 50% refund if you cancel at least 7 but fewer than 14 days before arrival. No refund inside 7 days.
Is smoking allowed?
No smoking or vaping indoors or outdoors. There is a $1,000 fee for violations.
Is High Peak good for couples?
The original 7 High Drive A-frame — The Cozy A-Frame Cabin — is created especially for couples, romantic getaways and small families, with a king bed and a sleeper sofa for up to 4 guests. The three larger A-frames each sleep up to 6.
Is High Peak a good base for hiking?
Yes — guests use it as a base camp all year. The Nature A-Frame Cabin celebrates Mount Jefferson, the New River, Elk Knob, Grayson Highlands, Grandfather Mountain and the Virginia Creeper Trail. Mount Jefferson State Natural Area and New River State Park are minutes away, and reviewers day-trip to Elk Knob, Rendezvous Mountain, Grayson Highlands, and Mount Rogers, then come back to the hot tub.
How far is High Peak from the Blue Ridge Parkway and the airports?
The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 15 minutes by car. Charlotte Douglas (CLT) is about 2 hours. Asheville Regional (AVL) is about 2.5 hours.
Is 7 High Drive suitable for kids?
A Pack n Play and high chair are available at all four cabins. The property has steep grades and hot tubs, so adult supervision is required.
Are 11, 19, and 25 High Drive suitable for kids?
Yes. The new two-story three-bedroom A-frames at 11, 19, and 25 High Drive are very suitable for kids, fun, and purposely designed for kids upstairs. The property has steep grades and hot tubs, so adult supervision is required.
