Dog-friendly West Jefferson, NC

New River Brewing
The brewery and taproom is at 833 US-221, West Jefferson. Their site says, “We're fully dog friendly, so your four-legged crew is always welcome too.” That line is about the taproom. Closed Monday. Tuesday to Thursday, 4–9 pm. Friday and Saturday, 12–9 pm. Sunday, 12–8 pm. newriverbrewing.beer.
Boondocks Restaurant
108 S Jefferson Ave. The site lists “a pet friendly covered patio & beer garden.” Indoor dining is not described as pet friendly. Thursday to Monday, 11:30 am–9:30 pm. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. boondockstaproom.com.
Hatchet West
13A East 2nd Street. The site labels “Sidewalk bistro tables (dog-friendly).” Dogs inside are not mentioned. Monday to Saturday, 7 am–4 pm. Closed Sunday. hatchetwest.com.
Old Barn Winery

Mount Jefferson State Natural Area
Pets are allowed, not inside buildings, on an attended leash no longer than 6 feet. No day-use fee. Open 8 a.m. to sunset. Closed Christmas Day. Mount Jefferson State Natural Area. The hike page is hiking near West Jefferson.
New River State Park
Wagoner Access and Elk Shoals Access use the same leash rule. Pets are allowed at campsites, not inside buildings. No day-use fee. New River State Park. Access names and the park’s other notes are on New River tubing and kayaking.
Ashe County Park
527 Ashe Co Park Rd, Jefferson. County rules updated February 5, 2024: pets on a leash at all times, waste disposed of, and physical control. Hours on that form: 8 am–dusk. Ashe County Park rules.
Lansing town parks and greenways
This includes Creeper Trail Park. The ordinance says an animal in a public park must be on a leash unless the park is a designated dog park. No page opened says a dog park has been designated. Blue Ridge Parkway
